Community mobilization informational meetings with the population of Guria organized by CENN and partner organizations the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG), launching the Local Action Groups (LAGs) have concluded. The meetings were held within the framework of CENN’s ongoing project “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth”.
The meetings were held with the population living in the villages of all three municipalities of Guria and aimed to inform the local population about the project, local action groups (LAGs) and the possibilities of joining these groups. A total of 103 meetings were held in all three municipalities of Guria, attended by more than 1,500 local residents.
After community mobilization information meetings, the Local Action Group (LAG) elections are scheduled to be held in July 2023.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a Local Action Group (LAG) in all three municipalities of the Guria region (Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti). The LAG is an active citizens’ union composed of representatives of the municipality, private, public and civil sectors, which is involved in determining the priorities of rural development, developing the local development strategy of the municipality, and implementing and monitoring grant projects corresponding with the strategy.
The “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” project is implemented by CENN in cooperation with partner organisations: the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG), supported by the European Union within the European Neighbourhood Program for Rural and Agricultural Development ENPARD IV.
