Model for the Restoration of Floodplain Forests Degraded by Extraction Activities

GEO

The presented model for the restoration of floodplain forests is intended for the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

The legal and financial mechanisms proposed in the document are based on the enforcement of the Forest Code of Georgia and the Law of Georgia on Environmental Liability. They envision the establishment of a sustainable and cost-effective system aimed at forest restoration, the rational use of natural resources, as well as the reduction and elimination of environmental damage.

Key emphasis is placed on improving coordination among the agencies functioning under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

The study was conducted by CENN and prepared under the “Green Caucasus” project, which is implemented with the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) within the framework of the “Austrian Partnership for International Cooperation.”
