Scope of Work for a Business Development Expert in Georgia

Conducting business consultation and mentorship for three selected businesses in Tbilisi Circular Lab

CENN is seeking a short-term Business Development Expert in Georgia to mentor selected businesses in the Circularity Acceleration Programme. The expert will provide consultations, guidance, and advice on circular business models, offering support to address specific challenges faced by participating businesses while introducing circular solutions into their existing business frameworks.

During the mentoring sessions, the expert will assist participants in developing comprehensive business models that integrate commercially and financially viable reusable packaging systems. In addition to advising on the development of reusable packaging business models, the expert will also help participants finalize budgets for the submission of applications for the pilot project.

Activity Background

The SoW is related to the GIZ-funded Tbilisi Circular Lab Piloting Reusable Packaging Systems project, which aims to accelerate business models which integrate reusable packaging systems, in other words, a system that allows the packaging to be returned to the producer/service provider/business that is subsequently cleaned and reused for the same purpose.

The Circular City Lab project is part of a global initiative launched by GIZ ‘Circular City Labs – Testing Reusable Packaging Systems in Cities’, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by promoting economically viable reusable systems and strengthening the participation of women and female entrepreneurs in local circular economies. The Tbilisi Circular Lab, implemented by CENN locally, aims to support businesses (with an emphasis on women-owned or managed businesses) in the adoption of economically viable returnable and reusable packaging systems through capacity building, citizen engagement and partnership facilitation.

The objectives of the programme are:

  • To increase knowledge and capacity of selected businesses on circular economy and how to integrate returnable and reusable packaging systems within their business models
  • To support businesses in developing a comprehensive business model that integrates returnable and reusable packaging systems including 1) Developing a realistic budget and action plan; 2) developing a comprehensive pitch deck; 3) Improving networking and negotiation skills with mentors, industry experts and other businesses;

Assignment Objective

Activity 2.1.  The Business Development expert in Georgia will be tasked to conduct consultation and mentorship for three selected businesses.

Tasks to be performed

The tasks of this assignment are as follows:

  • For the selected businesses: Utilize the Canvas business model or another suitable business model to integrate circular solutions into the existing business framework. Discuss possible modifications to incorporate a reusable packaging system.
  • Provide consultation to the selected businesses on the cost-benefit analysis of the proposed modifications and assist them in establishing financial projections. It is important to consider and elaborate on the social and environmental benefits that a newly designed business model will bring to the company and society.
  • Aid the businesses in creating a new, circular business model that includes a reusable packaging system and support businesses in finalizing the budget in order to apply for the pilot funding within the Tbilisi Circular Lab project.

Deliverables

  • 12 days of consultations/mentorship;
  • Three newly designed business frameworks elaborated together with the selected businesses;
  • A budget for the pilot project is created together with the selected businesses.

Level of Effort

The assignment shall be performed during the period of July – August, 2024

The number of days for business development expert in Georgia: 12 days, one meeting per week for each of the selected three businesses.

Reporting

The Consultant Provider will report to the project manager in Georgia.

Consultant /Service Provider Skills and Experience Required

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in business administration and market analysis or in a business-related field such as economics, business development, Finances, etc.;
  • At least 7 years of experience in related fields (i.e. business consultancy, strategic analysis, etc.);
  • Experience working with business model Canvas or any other related business framework that supports circularity;
  • A practical and theoretical knowledge of circular business modelling, reusable systems knowledge and experience in desirable;
  • Experience of working with both large Businesses and SMEs;
  • Experience in organizing and conducting educational activities (i.e. trainings, workshops)
  • Flexibility throughout the working process (in terms of providing feedback to comments and questions);
  • Fluency in written and spoken in Georgian & English.

Scope of Work for a Circular Economy Expert specializing in Reusable Packaging Systems

Conducting business consultation for three selected businesses in Tbilisi Circular Lab

CENN is seeking a short-term Circular Economy Expert to consult three selected businesses in the Circularity Acceleration Programme focusing on establishing returnable and reusable packaging systems within the following sectors: bars/clubs/festivals, beverage production, and retail sector.

The expert will provide consultations, advice and industry knowledge on circular business models, offering support in order to address specific challenges faced by participating businesses while introducing circular solutions into their existing business frameworks.

During the consultation sessions, the expert will advise participants and their business development mentors on developing commercially and financially viable reusable packaging systems by sharing industry knowledge and existing examples of the systems developed in specific relevant industries. The consultations should also include advice on what should be taken into consideration when designing a budget.

  • 9 days of consultations;
  • Three newly designed business frameworks elaborated together with the business development expert and selected businesses;

Level of Effort

The assignment shall be performed during the period of July – August, 2024

The number of days for circular economy expert: 9 days, two consultation meetings per business.

 

The consultations will be held online.
