November 1, 2021, Tbilisi – The aim of the regional multi-stakeholder platform on social entrepreneurship and green innovations was to analyse the legal framework and recommendations for the creation and development of a social entrepreneurship legal basis in both countries. The conference was organised as part of the EU-funded “EU4Youth: Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (SEED) for Green Growth” project, which is being implemented by CENN in partnership with KRDF in Georgia and Green Lane NGO in Armenia.
The meeting brought together EU4Youth representatives from Brussels, implementing organizations, public, civil society and private sector institutions dealing with social and green entrepreneurship, selected youth and education practitioners, youth policy experts and researchers, EU4Youth grant holders and related EU bilateral and regional projects.
“For years, the EU has been involved in the promotion and support of social entrepreneurship in the EaP region providing both financial and expert support. Currently, the EU is funding four projects within the EU4Youth initiative scheme aimed at the development of social and youth entrepreneurship, particularly focusing on supporting regional partnerships and cooperation in this regard, transfer of experience between social innovators from the EU and EaP states, creating opportunities for youth, building the infrastructure for social entrepreneurship as well as the creation and development of legislative framework for social entrepreneurship,” stated Maxim Pijevskii, Key Expert from the EU4Youth Delegation during his welcoming remarks.
The first part of the conference was dedicated to the overview of the main achievements of the project in Georgia and Armenia, as well as the analysis of the legal framework of social entrepreneurship at local and regional levels. During the meeting, the project presented a desk study conducted in Georgia and Armenia and recommendations on the challenges and legal framework for social entrepreneurship in both countries.
The second part of the conference was dedicated to the discussion between stakeholders about future steps to popularize the field of social entrepreneurship at the regional level.
The EU-funded regional project “EU4Youth: Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (SEED) for Green Growth” is implemented by CENN in partnership with KRDF in Georgia and Green Lane NGO in Armenia. The project empowers disadvantaged youth in Georgia and Armenia to successfully transition from education to work through developing their Social Entrepreneurship and Green Innovation skills.
