The youth in Racha have launched an environmental project with the aim of raising awareness about climate change and promoting the wise utilization of natural resources among the population. Activists have organized training sessions and encouraged afforestation and eco-friendly consumption among their peers.
The project’s founders established the initiative during the Climate Change thematic camp, which was supported by CENN and the EU. The implementation began immediately after the conclusion of the camp. Ambrolauri N2 Public School and Uravi School, along with the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Agrotourism Association, actively participated in executing the project among the young initiators.
Project participants aspire to actively engage in climate change-related activities by advocating for involvement in thematic events. One of the project’s initiators, Elene Gveletiani, states, “We plan to care for the environment, actively engage in the wise utilization of resources, and share awareness about climate change in our region for our future.”
Youth initiatives are implemented within the framework of the “Georgian Climate Action Project supported by the European Union. The project is implemented by CENN in cooperation with Kakheti Regional Development Fund (KRDF), Chiaturian Union (ACU), Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Agrotourism Development Association (RLS-ADA) and Young Teachers’ Union (YPU).
