| The Green Economy School has once again reunited the undergraduate and graduate students interested in green entrepreneurship, who, within the framework of the Rural Entrepreneurship Development Project, gathered at the Bulachauri Green Center from November 1-3.
The theme of this year’s School of Green Economics is the commercial use of non-timber forest resources. The 9 finalists selected from up to 50 participants of the competition underwent a three-day training on rural entrepreneurship development.
Under the program, students had the opportunity to learn about the creation and piloting of household, private, community, municipal, regional or national models for the use of non-timber forest resources, sustainable development goals and strategic rural development objectives.
During the training, students, together with mentors, worked on private forestry development projects, learned about the potential of non-timber forest resources in Georgia as well as sustainable forest product collection, production and marketing, and met with private companies and assessed business opportunities and practical experiences in developing business plans.
The initiative is implemented by the “Georgian Forest Product” Association in partnership with CENN and the Agrarian Committee of the Parliament. The Embassy of the Netherlands and the Austrian Development Agency (ADC) financially support the project.
