Improving conditions in educational institutions in the regions and establishing modern standards is a crucial step toward the comprehensive upbringing of the future generation. To this end, within the framework of the “Green Guria” project, supported by the European Union and CENN, several large-scale initiatives were implemented in the region, significantly improving both the educational and infrastructural environment of preschool institutions.
For a long time, outdated toy inventory in the kindergartens of Chokhatauri municipality remained a major challenge. In response, through the initiative of Nino Baramidze and with the support of the project, 22 kindergartens in the municipality were equipped with new, educational, and entertaining items. The children now have access to eco-friendly toys, puzzles, building blocks, kinetic sand, dolls, and a diverse range of children’s literature. Additionally, special outdoor play equipment was installed in the yards of five kindergartens, making the children’s physical activity and daily routines much more diverse.
With the support of the European Union, an inclusive space was established in the kindergarten of Gurianta village. The environment created under the leadership of Nino Khavtasi enables 43 children, including those with special needs, to acquire knowledge using visual and tangible resources tailored specifically to them. The project is also significant because it involves working closely with parents, ensuring the family’s active engagement in the inclusive education process.
Another clear example of addressing local needs is the improvement of the kindergarten yard in Nagomari village, Ozurgeti municipality. After a fire damaged the kindergarten’s infrastructure in 2021, the children no longer had a proper play space. Through the efforts of Inga Sioridze, a modern playground, a sand zone, and wooden play structures were set up in the yard. This new environment allows educators to spend more time outdoors with the children and conduct the learning process close to nature.
These initiatives, carried out with the facilitation of the European Union and CENN, confirm that caring for children and providing them with quality education is a top priority in Guria. A safe educational environment is precisely the foundation that will help the future generation develop and strengthen their skills.
