CENN, with the expert and financial support of the US Forest Service (USFS) and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), is launching state-of-the-art watershed management technologies in Georgia.
On July 14, the presentation of the initiative “Basin Management, Forest Management and Natural Disasters in Georgia” was opened by the Head of the National Forest Agency, Archil Nikoleishvili.
Georgian and American experts presented the modern sectoral and multisectoral mechanisms, methodology and specific plan of measures for the implementation of the basin management principles, the implementation of which will start this year.
The initiative involves adapting international best practices to the local context, on the basis of which specific technical tools will be developed and public service representatives will be trained to implement watershed management mechanisms in Georgia.
