A series of trainings for farmers on land degradation and pasture condition assessment continue
CENN, with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), has concluded training sessions on the topic of Land Degradation Neutrality and Pasture Management Principles.
Up to 45 participants from Gurjaani, Dmanisi and Kazbegi municipalities were trained in land degradation and pasture condition assessment. The participants included staff from the Information-Consulting Centers of Rural Development Agency (RDA) as well as local farmers. The training sessions were interactive and covered not only topics related to the variations and causes of land degradation, but also had a practical component assessing the pastureland condition in the field.
The training has been organized within the project “Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands”, which is being initiated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project is implemented by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus) is an executive organization and CENN is the project partner.
