As part of the EU-funded “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia” project, and within the framework of the Green Diplomacy Weeks, CENN – in partnership with the Sakartvelo Regional Empowerment Foundation (SREF) and Akhmeta Public School No.2 – took part in the celebration of World Cleanup Day.
To mark World Cleanup Day, cleanup activities were conducted at three locations across Akhmeta Municipality in Kakheti. Around 100 participants took part in the initiative, collecting household waste from the areas surrounding Akhmeta Public School No. 2, the stadium in Jokholo Village, and the kindergarten in Koreti Village.

The cleanup initiative brought together representatives from the implementing organisations, along with students and teachers from Akhmeta Public School No. 2, Jokholo Village Public School, and Koreti Village Public School.
World Cleanup Day is a global initiative that brings together millions across the globe in a collective effort to protect our planet and promote a cleaner, greener future.
About the project
The EU-funded four-year initiative “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia: Building Local Capacities to Advance Waste Prevention and Circular Economy in the Regions of Georgia” is implemented by CENN in partnership with ICLEI Europe. This initiative aims to foster a more inclusive, sustainable, and environmentally resilient future for Georgia by promoting resource efficiency, sustainable consumption, and production practices, while significantly reducing waste generation in the Kakheti region and the Adjara Autonomous Republic (AR).
