CENN hosted a media tour in Kvemo Kartli within the framework of the EU-supported project “Empowering Civil Society for Inclusive and Green Post-COVID Recovery.”
The tour involved around 17 journalists from 15 media organizations. Its goal was to introduce journalists to EU-funded grant projects, highlight their outcomes, and emphasize their importance to local communities. The participants learned about various initiatives implemented across Kvemo Kartli municipalities, including social services established through the project. These services target vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and children with disabilities along with their parents. Journalists also gained insights into the regional needs for social services.
To offer participants a closer look at the initiatives, the media tour included site visits to several sub-grantee projects:
- In Dmanisi, the Association of Internally Displaced Women “Consent”, where the EU funded the project “Technological Bridge Between Generations.” This initiative connected elderly residents with socially vulnerable youth, promoting the social reintegration of the elderly.
- Also in Dmanisi, a Day Center was established to provide basic social services for local children and youth with disabilities.
- In Tetritskaro, the Early Childhood Development Support Center was equipped under the grant project to improve local access to social services.
Additionally, information was shared about three other projects implemented in Kvemo Kartli:
4. A project by Zrunva Georgia, which aimed to improve access to services for ethnic Azerbaijani children with disabilities in the region by providing information in Azerbaijani.
5. In Gardabani Municipality, the Martkopi Youth Center promoted professions related to the provision of social services.
6. In Tsalka, the EU supported a project focused on the socio-economic empowerment of single parents of children with disabilities.
As part of the media tour, a competition was held for participating journalists, inviting them to create media products in their preferred formats about the highlighted projects. In total, 13 media outlets prepared and published content on their respective platforms.
