Donor: New Democracy Fund (NDF)
This project aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine to mobilize youth and support their democratic participation and public engagement. This effort aligns with the strategic goals of Denmark’s Partnership with the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries 2022-26, focusing on promoting democratic institutions and processes and enhancing civil society’s role and influence.
Youth in these countries share common challenges: political apathy, limited civic education, lack of youth-friendly platforms, and fragmented youth identities due to cultural, ethnic, and regional backgrounds. Addressing these issues is essential for fostering inclusive democratic participation and public engagement.
The project’s goal is to address key barriers to youth democratic engagement, such as political apathy, limited civic education, lack of youth-friendly spaces, and fragmented youth groups. By enhancing civil society’s capacity to mobilize youth, increasing their knowledge, skills, and confidence, and providing opportunities for collective action, the project aims to foster inclusive democratic participation and public engagement among young people in Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. This includes expanding networks, outreach to rural areas, and supporting youth-led actions to ensure widespread democratic involvement in both urban and rural settings.
Democracy & Good Governance / Youth Development
The project will partner with local organizations in Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine to enhance their ability to mobilize youth, focusing on rural inclusion and diverse youth leadership. It aims to boost youth democratic participation through public challenges, elections, and humanitarian responses. Each country will address specific issues such as upcoming elections, discrimination, reconstruction policies, and veteran reintegration. Regionally, partners will use social media, events, and local press to engage stakeholders. Globally, inspiring stories and campaigns will be shared via the Global Platforms’ channels and AADK’s communication, reaching a broad audience.
