CENN at Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies

CENN at Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies

CENN represents Georgia in the Global forum network meeting for national SDG Advisory Bodies taking place in Cape Town, South Africa. The Global Forum for National Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advisory Bodies is a network of national councils for sustainable development or SDG units working cooperatively with the government to shape national sustainable policy-making in a constructive manner.

During the event, Executive Director Nana Janashia will share the experience of Georgia on existing multi-stakeholder platforms and their substantial role in the local implementation of the SDGs, in facilitating consensus and inclusive advice on policies to realize the 2030 agenda with society as a whole.

Together, the Membership of the Global Forum will cooperate to foster the co-creation of knowledge and develop common pathways to deliver actionable SDG acceleration in their countries and regions. The Members will jointly act toward helping their respective governments during the coming Decade of Action to deliver the Global Goals as outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

CENN is a co-chair of the Working Group of the SDG Council of Georgia on Sustainable Energy and Environmental Protection (along with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and UN FAO).  Along with specializing in a number of areas relevant to SDGs, CENN is currently implementing the project with the support from GIZ funded by the German government that has an objective to jumpstart SDG implementation, continue nationalization of new targets and commence localization of SDGs in Georgia via ensuring the participatory process and meaningful multi-stakeholder dialogue on national and local levels.
