CENN, with the support of the European Union and in partnership with the Young Pedagogues’ Union, held an event celebrating Earth Day in Guria.
The event was opened by CENN and Municipality representatives who discussed ongoing EU-funded projects in the region and the importance of climate-smart solutions and sustainable rural development. After the welcoming remarks, the celebration of Earth Day in Ozurgeti, at the “Eight + 1” event space, started with an information meeting about the history of Earth Day and climate-smart solutions and ended with a visit to the windbreak strip in Laituri township.
The event was attended by local CSOs, Climate Action Group members, active youth and the municipality.
Earth Day is an annual worldwide event held on April 22 to demonstrate action for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org, including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The theme for Earth Day 2023 is “Invest in Our Planet”. It focuses on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and on activating everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part.
