Tbilisi, 26 June 2024 – ” CENN, in partnership with Gopa Intec, within the EU-funded projects “Georgian Energy Sector Reform Programme” and “Georgia Climate Action Project” hosted the opening event of the multimedia exhibition “Landscape Tells a Story” in the Artarea gallery.
“The Landscape Tells the Story is a collaborative project where Georgian artists engage with one of the prominent trends in the international art scene and present their artistic visions on the theme of energy and energy carriers, exploring the essence, mythology and potential of organic materials in their quest for understanding, perfection, and advancement”, – says curator of the exhibition, PhD in History of Arts, Khatuna Khabuliani.
Since the 1960s, environmental art has emerged as an artistic practice of transforming the landscape, entailing friendly cooperation with nature, nurturing it, and consciously deepening the connection with it.
“I am pleased to have had the opportunity to serve on the selection jury for participating artists on behalf of the European Union, contributing to the creation of this exhibition. Art has a unique power of expression, making it an effective tool for communicating environmental issues and raising public awareness,” outlines Lieze Vanwymelbeke, representative of the EU delegation.
The opening event of the exhibition was attended by the representatives of international and local organisations, artists, curators and other interested parties.
The exhibition will be open to the public till June 30, daily from 12:00 to 20:00.
Participants: Teo Burki, David Kukhalashvili, Shota Imerlishvili, Mariam Saknelashvili, Maka Kiladze, Gvantsa Fanchulidze, Diego Mikava, Mariam Turabelidze, Ketevan Gamdlishvili, Elene Guramishvili, Nika Momtselidze.
Over the past two months, participating artists have created a diverse range of multimedia works, including paintings, sculptures, video installations, and illustrations.
“Landscape Tells a Story” is a group project and a key component of the energy sector reform awareness-raising campaign. It has brought together Georgian visual artists to emphasize the critical role of energy efficiency and renewable energy in mitigating and adapting to the negative effects of climate change through visual arts.
