Within the framework of the EU-funded project “GREEN Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” CENN, together with partner organizations, the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG), continues to receive applications for membership of the Local Development Groups (LAGs) of Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti municipalities.
The local development group (LAG – Local Action Group) is the main instrument of rural development in the European (LEADER) approach. A Local Action Group (LAG) comprises public and private organizations from rural villages, which identify and implement rural development strategies. In addition, LAGs can include farmers, entrepreneurs, community organizations, local residents, service providers, media organizations, women’s unions, young people, people with disabilities, etc.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to create local action groups (LAG) in all three municipalities of the Guria region. LAG is an active citizens’ association composed of representatives of the municipality, private, public and civil sectors. The local action group will be involved in the determination of rural development priorities, in the development of the local development strategy of the municipality, and in the implementation and monitoring of grant projects corresponding to the strategy. Applications for membership of the local development group are already open. Any adult interested in the development of their municipality can join the group.
