Tbilisi Circular Lab is a circular economy project implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in collaboration with CENN on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project aims to accelerate business models which integrate reusable packaging systems and to strengthen the participation of women in local circular economies.
This project is part of a global initiative which supports the development of reusable packaging systems and women’s participation in three different countries. The project applies a multi-stakeholder approach, addressing the private and public sectors in up to four selected cities. Read more about the project here.
Circular economy and resource efficiency
The project promotes the adoption of reusable packaging in the business sector. By implementing reusable packaging systems, it facilitates the return and reuse of various packaging types within production processes, significantly reducing waste generation and easing the demand on natural resources.
Enabling business environment for an inclusive economy
The Tbilisi Circular Lab seeks to identify and engage 10 businesses interested in piloting the adoption of reusable packaging systems within their operational frameworks, meaning a system whereby packaging is returned, cleaned, and reused for the same purpose. A minimum of one and a maximum of two projects will receive financial support for piloting reusable packaging systems. The programme puts special emphasis on gender equality and supports businesses (co)managed by women
Human Capital Development
The programme offers participants thematic trainings, mentoring and coaching within the framework of business acceleration with the involvement of international and local experts. Training modules deal with such issues as business model development, change management, financial planning, circular business model creation, etc.
