On July 9, 16 beneficiary entrepreneurs from Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti and Shida Kartli involved in the tourism and sustainable agriculture sectors visited the Elkana Breeding Conservation Farm and the organization’s member farmers as part of a familiarization trip.
The non-traditional tourist route was designed for entrepreneurs interested in agrarian biodiversity and bioproduction in both the agriculture and tourism sectors. Visitors to the Elkana Conservation Farm had the opportunity to get acquainted with the local breeds, the permaculture space arranged on the farm and modern methods of organic production.
The tour program also included an introduction to business models of different profiles, where the hosts introduced visitors to interesting and eco-friendly approaches. Among them was a demonstration of a model of vermiculture in the village of Matani and a visit to the guesthouse and wine cellar of the family hotel “Alvani” and Lagazi.
The familiarization trip was initiated within CENN’s ongoing project Digital Caucasus, in cooperation with the EU4Youth: Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (SEED) for Green Growth and EU: Embrace Tsalka projects and supported by the USAID Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, Economic Development, Governance and Enterprise Growth project and the European Union.
