The working version of the Chokhatauri LAG charter and sectoral directions was approved within the framework of the ongoing EU-funded project ‘Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth.’
The charter and sectoral directions of the Chokhatauri LAG were approved by the management board of the group at a working meeting. The LAG’s organizational directions, goals, forms of activity, and obligations were outlined in the charter.
The sectoral directions were defined as follows:
- Local economic development – promotion of small and medium enterprises;
- Rural development;
- Education, culture and sports;
- Support for youth engagement;
- Environmental protection;
- Health care and social issues;
- Gender mainstreaming and empowerment of women;
- Public administration and cooperation.
Chokhatauri’s Local Action Group (LAG) has 15 members on the governing board who were elected by the LAG members through elections. The LAG is an active citizens’ union composed of representatives of the municipality, private, public and civil sectors, which is involved in determining the priorities of rural development, developing the local development strategy of the municipality, and implementing and monitoring grant projects corresponding with the strategy.
The “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” project is implemented by CENN in cooperation with partner organisations: the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG), supported by the European Union within the European Neighbourhood Program for Rural and Agricultural Development ENPARD IV.
