In the framework of the EU-supported ongoing “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” project, informational meetings were held with candidates for membership of the local action group (LAG) governing board in all three municipalities of Guria – Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti. Meetings were hosted by CENN together with the partner organizations – Young Pedagogues Union, the Institute of Democracy and the Local Action Group KEDA (LAG).
The meetings held in Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti were attended by 150 candidates for LAG council membership living in the Guria region. The meetings aimed to inform the candidates about the LAG, its functioning and the activities of the board members. Also, the participants of the meeting got acquainted with the information about the elections of local development groups (LAG), which will be held in July 2023. The final members of the LAG Governing Board and Team will be selected through elections.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a Local Action Group (LAG) in all three municipalities of the Guria region (Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti). The LAG is an active citizens’ union composed of representatives of the municipality, private, public and civil sectors, which is involved in determining the priorities of rural development, developing the local development strategy of the municipality, and implementing and monitoring grant projects corresponding with the strategy.
The “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” project is implemented by CENN in cooperation with partner organisations: the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG), supported by the European Union within the European Neighbourhood Program for Rural and Agricultural Development ENPARD IV.
